Indoor Sculptures & Statues

An indoor sculpture is judged from three feet away, and that changes what matters. Outdoors a piece is read as a silhouette against sky; inside, you see the surface, the joins and the finish, and you see them every day. So this is the part of our range where the making has to bear close inspection, and where colour and texture do more work than mass.

Freed from weather, the material choices open up. Fibreglass leads at nearly six in ten pieces because it allows large form at a weight a floor and a lift can take, and it holds a sprayed finish that outdoor exposure would ruin. Resin covers the smaller decorative work. Stainless steel and worked metal appear where a reflective surface suits the room.

Nearly half the collection is abstract, which is what most interiors want from a sculpture: form and material without a subject competing with the rest of the room. Beyond that the strongest groups are animals, bears, astronauts and figures, and there is a substantial pop-art element. Scale is more varied here than anywhere else in the range. A third sit between 30cm and 79cm for consoles, shelves and plinths, while a quarter pass 160cm for stairwells, atriums and double-height rooms.
