About Our Giraffe Statues
A giraffe is the only animal that is essentially vertical, and that makes it useful in a way no other subject is. It occupies almost no floor area while filling a great deal of height, so it fits a stairwell, an atrium or a narrow courtyard where a horse or an elephant simply would not go.
That verticality is also an engineering problem. The whole animal balances on a small footprint with most of its mass at the top, which is why the large pieces are built in fibreglass over an internal frame rather than cast solid: the weight has to stay manageable and the base has to be stable.
The range runs from tabletop pieces to figures over three metres, in naturalistic, geometric and boldly coloured treatments. Browse the wider subject in animal sculptures and statues, the contemporary finishes in pop art sculptures and the large-format work in life size and large statues.
Check ceiling height before anything else, since that is the constraint this subject runs into rather than floor space. Most of the range is made for interiors; the bronze and stone pieces are rated for outdoors. See indoor sculptures and statues and wildlife sculptures.
Every giraffe statue we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch about a scale or finish we do not list.
FAQs
Why does a giraffe suit a stairwell or atrium?
Because it is essentially vertical. It occupies almost no floor area while filling a great deal of height, so it fits narrow spaces where a horse or elephant of comparable presence would not.
What should I check before ordering?
Ceiling height rather than floor space. That is the constraint this subject runs into, and it is the measurement most people overlook.
Why are the large ones fibreglass?
Because the animal balances on a small footprint with most of its mass at the top. Building over an internal frame keeps the weight manageable and the base stable, which a solid casting at three metres would not.
Can they go outdoors?
The bronze and stone pieces can. The fibreglass and resin ones are interior only, since sprayed finishes fade and chalk in permanent weather.
What sizes are available?
From tabletop pieces to figures over three metres tall, in naturalistic, geometric and boldly coloured treatments.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
