Clear & Black Winged Burst Resin Sculpture - 48cm, with flame-like clear resin tongues rising between two black-edged wing-like blades on a faceted clear base, set against a plain white background.
Clear & Black Winged Burst Resin Sculpture - 48cm $2,57300
Description

Clear resin bursts upward in tall, flame-like tongues between two blades flung wide on either side, like wings, each blade carrying a band of black along its outer edge. The tongues rise to different heights from a single root, one curling over into a small loop on the left and another leaning far out to the right, and the whole burst stands on a low foot of clear resin, faceted like a lump of ice.

Clear Tongues of Spray Between Black-Edged Blades

Two colours carry the whole piece, and they divide its work cleanly. The black is kept to the blades, a band along the outer edge of each, so the two wings read as dark strokes that set the angle of the burst. Everything else is left clear: the tongues, the root they spring from and the foot are all glassy resin, rippled and polished, so the burst takes its colour from the room and the light rather than from a tint. Against the black edges the clear tongues look brighter still, and the foot, faceted rather than smooth, catches light from several sides at once.

At 48cm it belongs on a desk, a bedside cabinet or a low table by a sofa, where it is met by someone seated, close enough to look into the burst. Give it plain space on both sides so the black-edged blades read as two clean strokes, and let a lamp nearby, or daylight from behind, bring the clear tongues up bright against them. Indoor use only.

The Blades, the Black and Moving It

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. One burst is supplied, clear with black-edged blades, standing on its own faceted foot. On commission each blade can be swept out wider or held in closer, the black can run across the whole of each blade or stay at its edge, and the tongues can be made finer or fuller. Carry it by the faceted foot, both hands beneath it, never by a blade or a tongue, and set it down where nothing can knock the wing tips. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Clear tongues of water rising between two black-edged wings join this burst to our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
