About Our Classic Sculptures
The classical tradition has outlasted every style that replaced it, and the reason is that it solved the problems first. How weight sits through a standing figure, how drapery describes the body underneath, how a portrait reads at three metres as well as at one: those were worked out in Greece and Rome and have not been improved on.
This collection is that tradition, carved and cast by hand. Marble and bronze do nearly all of it, because the tradition and the materials developed together and neither works properly without the other. Marble takes an edge fine enough for individual curls and folds of cloth; bronze holds poses that stone cannot support.
The subjects are the canon: gods and goddesses, emperors and philosophers, Venus and David, angels and cherubs, portrait busts and torsos, and the animals of classical statuary. Browse them in Greek and Roman statues, bust and torso sculptures and angel statues.

FAQs
What counts as classical sculpture?
Work in the Greek and Roman tradition and its later revivals: naturalistic figures, drapery that describes the body beneath, portrait busts and the mythological canon. It is a treatment rather than a period, since we make it now.
Are these reproductions or new work?
Both. Some are faithful versions of known works such as Venus de Milo or David; others are new pieces made in the same tradition. Each product page says which.
Why marble and bronze?
Because the tradition and the materials developed together. Marble takes a fine enough edge for hair and folded cloth, and bronze holds poses that stone cannot support. Substituting either changes what the work can do.
