Blue Rearing Wave Resin Sculpture (280cm) by Giant Sculptures, a twisting curved wave in deep blue fading to a pale spray-tipped crest, shown on a plain white background.
Blue Rearing Wave Resin Sculpture - 280cm $18,15100
Description

A great wave of blue resin that breaks low at one end, curling forward there in a lobed lip, then rears up in a twisting column of water and arcs over at the top into a long, pale crest. Spray rises from the crest in fingers, several of them tipped with beads of water, and the far end of the crest draws out into a slender tongue that curves back down. The blue is deepest at the foot, close to navy where the water folds over on itself, and it pales almost to clear as it climbs into the spray.

A Twisting Blue Column Arcing Into Spray

Colour gives the wave its weight. At the foot the resin is saturated and dark, and it lightens steadily up the twisting column until the crest is a pale, glassy blue and the tips of the spray are nearly clear, so the low end reads as mass and the high end as air, and the whole wave seems to throw itself upwards. The surface is polished throughout and modelled in long, rolling folds that follow the twist of the column, and each finger of spray along the crest carries its own bead at the tip, catching the light apart from the body below.

Its place is a large interior seen from far off, an atrium or a hotel lobby, say, or a gallery or a reception hall, with floor enough to circle it and take in the side view as well as the front. Leave space beyond both ends, the crest especially, and keep a plain wall or open space behind it so the spray reads against something quiet. Light from above runs down the folds of the column, and daylight from one side makes the pale crest glow. Indoor use only.

Blue Water, a Slab Option and Delivery

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The wave is sold on its own, and a broad fibreglass slab made for it can be added as the base option. On commission the blue can be deepened, cooled towards teal or left out altogether for clear resin, and the spray along the crest made fuller or sparer. A commission can take the wave to a different span as well, its column and crest redrawn in proportion. Its crate is built round it with the crest and the spray braced, and anyone moving it takes the weight beneath the column, never at the crest, the spray or the tongue. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue wave rearing from a low, curled foot into a crest of spray joins our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
