Clear & Amber Swept Whale Tail Resin Sculpture, 108cm, with a rippled clear trunk and an amber, red-orange streaked fluke, on a plain white background.
Clear & Amber Swept Whale Tail Resin Sculpture - 108cm $7,04300
Description

Clear resin rises from a broad oval foot as the trunk of a whale's tail, leaning as it climbs, its surface rippled like water-worn ice. At the top it turns over through a knot of amber and clear swirls and throws out one long fluke that sweeps far to the side, tapering to a fine point. The fluke is amber, streaked a deep red-orange along its leading edge and at the tip, and beneath it trails a thin clear lobe with a ragged, pointed edge.

One Long Amber Fluke Swept Clear of the Trunk

The whole piece turns on the meeting of a clear trunk and a coloured fluke. The trunk is left colourless, its surface rippled and faintly faceted so that it reads as water heaving upward rather than as a solid post, and it leans as it rises, which gives the form its momentum before the fluke has even begun. Colour is saved for the top: amber gathers in the knot where the trunk turns over, then runs out along the fluke, deepening to a red-orange line on its leading edge and a fine red point at the tip. Beneath it the clear lobe is left thin and ragged, so the fluke has a hard, bright upper edge and a soft trailing one.

It needs floor and air around it, in the open corner of a large living room, a wide entrance hall or a hotel lobby, so that people can circle it and catch the fluke against the space beyond. Leave the fluke room to reach out to its side, well clear of walls and doorways. Daylight from a window behind it sets the amber glowing, and against a plain pale wall the outline of the clear trunk stays easy to follow. Indoor use only.

Amber, Clear Resin and Getting It Into Place

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. Made to commission, the amber may lean further towards red or soften to honey, the red-orange edging can stay or go, and the trunk can be polished smooth in place of its ripples. The fluke can also reach out further or sit closer to the trunk, and the tail can be produced at a different scale with its sweep in proportion. Its crate holds it upright, the fluke braced and the foot bedded, and it is moved with hands on the trunk and beneath the foot, never by the fluke. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A clear rippled trunk throwing one long amber fluke out to the side places this tail among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
