About Our Skull Sculptures
The skull is the oldest motif in decorative art and the one that has never lost its edge. It was carved into Roman mosaics, painted into Dutch still lifes and cast into Victorian mourning jewellery, and it still does the same job: it makes a room look like someone chose the objects in it rather than ordering a set.
The treatments here are contemporary rather than gothic. Skulls incorporated into bear and character forms, geometric and faceted versions, and pieces where the motif is worked into a larger sculpture rather than presented on its own. Fibreglass and resin do the making, in bold lacquer, chrome and metallic finishes.
This is a small collection and it sits inside larger ones. Browse the wider contemporary work in pop art sculptures, the bear treatments in bear sculptures and the full art-toy range in Labubu sculptures.
These are interior pieces. Sizes run from around 70cm to over 160cm, so they work as floor or console pieces depending on the design, and they suit studios, bars and rooms with a bit of character rather than formal interiors. See indoor sculptures and statues and decorative sculptures.
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch about custom colours or finishes.
FAQs
Are these gothic pieces?
No. The treatments are contemporary rather than gothic: skulls worked into bear and character forms, geometric and faceted versions, and pieces where the motif sits within a larger sculpture.
What are they made from?
Fibreglass and resin with sprayed lacquer, chrome and metallic finishes, which is what allows the bold colour the designs depend on.
What sizes are available?
From around 70cm to over 160cm, so depending on the design they work as floor pieces or on a console.
Can they go outdoors?
No. Sprayed finishes on resin and fibreglass fade and chalk in permanent weather, so these are interior pieces.
Where do they suit?
Studios, bars and rooms with some character rather than formal interiors. The motif works precisely because it looks chosen rather than ordered as part of a set.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
