Multi-Colour Faceted Monolith Acrylic Sculpture on Black Base - 155cm, a dichroic crystal-shaped form in aqua, amber and lime tones on a glossy black base, shot on a plain white background.
Multi-Colour Faceted Monolith Acrylic Sculpture on Black Base - 155cm $8,93500
Description

This acrylic sculpture is one upright block cut into broad, irregular facets in the shape of a rough crystal, leaning a little to one side, and it stands at the middle of a wide, glossy black base that comes with it. The acrylic is dichroic, so its colour depends on where it is seen from: aqua and cyan fill most of the planes, while others turn amber, rose, lime or a pale yellow, and every one of them shifts as you move. The edges between the facets show as fine bright lines, and the polished base mirrors the colour at its foot.

Broad Planes, Moving Colour and a Deliberate Lean

Two things have to be right for a block like this to work. The first is the planes. They are few and large, each one flat and turned to its own angle, so that every plane gives back a different colour and the edges between them stay crisp enough to read from across a room; a finer cut would scatter the colour into glitter, where broad facets keep it in whole fields that change as you walk. The second is the lean. The body tilts away from upright, but its foot is a flat face sitting square on the base, so the angle belongs to the form and the block stands steady.

This is a floor piece that needs space round it: the end of a long hall, a reception, a gallery bay or the corner of a large room, set where people come at it from more than one side. Its colours only move when the viewer does, so a spot that is circled suits it better than a recess. Light it from two directions rather than with one flat wash, keep the wall behind it plain and darker than the block, and give the base a hard, level floor.

Facet Plan, Colour Range and Two People to Lift

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. Three things are settled with a commission: the facet plan, which can be cut finer or kept as broad as this; the colour range, warmer with more amber and rose or cooler with more blue and violet; and the base, which can be made in white or grey instead of black. The block can also be drawn slimmer and more upright. The block and the base are lifted apart: two people take the block with their hands under its broadest lower planes, never by the point, and the base is set level first. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A leaning block of dichroic planes raised on glossy black is placed with our abstract sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our geometric sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
