Description

A cylinder of clear acrylic, plain and upright, its wall smooth and unbroken all the way round and its top edge finished with a flat, thick rim that stands out a little beyond the wall, like the lip of a vessel. There is no colour and no pattern in it: the whole form is one clear volume with the room behind it showing through, and the edge of the rim gathers a bright line of light while the curved wall below it throws long vertical highlights.

A Clear Tube Finished at the Lip

A form this plain depends on its material. The wall is clear acrylic with polished faces, and a cylinder of it has no corner to catch the eye, so the only lines it shows are the highlights its curve takes from the light around it and the two circles of its ends. The rim is what gives the piece its finish: a flat ring of clear acrylic at the top, projecting past the wall all round, so the top edge has weight and a shadow of its own and the cylinder reads as a made object rather than a length of tube. Everything else is left plain, so that the clarity of the acrylic is the whole of the effect.

At 75cm it suits a gallery floor or the open middle of a hall, with people passing on every side, or the corner of a room beside a chair. Being clear, it takes its character from what is around it: against a dark wall its edges and rim draw a bright outline, while against a pale one it almost disappears until the rim catches the light. Side light from a window runs a single highlight down the cylinder's full height, and a polished floor repeats the whole form in reflection.

Height, Diameter and Carrying the Cylinder

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. As a commission the height and the diameter can both be changed, the rim made deeper or slimmer, and the clear acrylic exchanged for a tint, smoke, blue or amber. It is sold singly, and two or three can be ordered together to stand as a group. To move it, lift it with both hands spread round the wall below the rim, never by the rim alone, and set it down upright on a level floor. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
