About Our Bronze Samurai Statues
The samurai is Japan's most enduring cultural icon, and the life size bronze samurai statue brings this tradition into the Western heritage sculptural material. Our bronze samurai statue collection features fully armoured standing figures, seated meditation studies and figures with specific weapons, with every piece handcrafted, made to order, custom sizes available, and produced in our worldwide studios.
Each piece is sculpted with historical accuracy on armour construction (specific lacing patterns, mon family crests, period appropriate detail). Most pieces are life size (typically 150 to 180cm tall, 200 to 400kg) and produced as monumental statement pieces. Closely related collections include the wider bronze figure and statue range and life size bronze statues at the larger scale.
Cast in solid bronze with darkened or weathered patinas suitable for both formal Eastern and Western settings. Designed in Birmingham, England and made in our worldwide studios, shipped worldwide free of charge, lifetime guaranteed. Suitable for grand entrances, gallery commissions, hospitality installations and serious Asian art collectors.
FAQs
Are the samurai historically accurate?
Yes. Armour construction, mon (family crest) detailing, weapon types, and posture follow historical samurai conventions. Specific period accuracy (Heian, Kamakura, Sengoku, Edo) can be specified at order. Our reference material includes museum-quality references and historical armour photographs.
Available with specific weapons?
Yes. Katana (sword) drawn or sheathed, naginata (polearm), yumi (Japanese bow), tanto (short blade), tachi (older curved sword), and yari (spear) are all available. Some poses include the samurai mid-action with the weapon, others depict the warrior at rest.
Indoor display or full life-size only?
Most pieces in our samurai collection are life-size, typically 150 to 180cm tall and 200 to 400kg. These are statement commissions for grand entrances, gallery installations, and serious Asian art collectors. Smaller desk-scale samurai (40 to 60cm) are also available but less common.
Are seated meditation poses available?
Yes. Seated samurai in meditation (zen pose, often with sword across knees) are an important part of the collection. These pieces are typically smaller in footprint than standing figures but equal in sculptural complexity. Suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor placement.
Can I commission a specific samurai or daimyo figure?
Yes. Historical commissions include specific samurai figures (Date Masamune, Sanada Yukimura, Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke), specific clan armour configurations, and fictional samurai based on detailed brief. Lead time 12 to 16 weeks for fully bespoke pieces.
