The Large Classical Don Quixote on Rearing Horse Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 210cm, presenting the iconic armoured knight astride a dramatically rearing horse, lance held diagonally across the body in a pose of determined forward motion. The composition commands space with the authority of a monument and the precision of a gallery work.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this piece achieves a level of surface resolution that few processes can match. Every articulated plate of the knight's armour, the folds of his wide-brimmed cavalier hat, and the sinewed tension in the horse's raised forelegs are rendered with fine, unhurried detail. The warm mid-brown bronze patina is hand-applied and layered to bring out subtle golden highlights across the decorative saddle girth band and armour trim, creating a luminous contrast against the deeper tones of the horse's flanks and the naturalistically textured rocky terrain base. An inscribed name plaque on the front face of the integral oval base completes the presentation. At 300kg, this is a work of serious material substance.
At this scale, the sculpture is best suited to large entrance halls, double-height reception spaces, grand staircases, hotel lobbies, corporate atriums, or as the centrepiece of a formal courtyard or garden terrace. The warm bronze palette sits well against stone, polished concrete, dark timber panelling, and aged brick. Its indoor and outdoor suitability gives considerable flexibility in placement; cast bronze weathers with distinction and requires minimal maintenance in exposed conditions.
We offer a full range of patina finishes beyond the standard warm brown, including verde antique, dark oxidised black, and natural unsealed bronze. The piece can also be produced at a reduced or increased scale to suit specific architectural requirements. This work draws on a visual tradition inspired by the work of sculptors engaged with literary and chivalric subject matter; if you have a specific commission in mind, we welcome the conversation. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.
