Large Classical Armoured Knight and Horse Slaying Dragon Bronze Sculpture, standing at an imposing 260cm, depicts a fully armoured medieval knight beside a dramatically rearing warhorse as he drives a lance downward into a writhing dragon coiled at the base. The composition commands space with a powerful diagonal thrust, the rearing horse carrying the eye upward while the vanquished dragon anchors the base with scaled body, outstretched wings and a coiling tail.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, a process that preserves every surface detail from the knight's plate armour and gauntlets to the horse's decorated bridle and armoured caparison. The finish is a dark black-brown bronze patina applied by hand, producing a deep, consistent tone with minimal oxidation that reads as authoritative and monumental at scale. The result is a work of hand-finished cast bronze in the classical figurative tradition, with no two pieces emerging from the foundry identically.
At 260cm and 800kg, this is a sculpture that defines a setting rather than decorating it. It suits formal entrance courts, grand estate driveways, civic plazas, cathedral closes, and wide gallery halls. The dark patina pairs well with pale stone, aged brick, and clipped formal hedging. Rated for permanent outdoor installation, it is equally commanding installed indoors in a double-height atrium or entrance hall.
We offer a range of patina finishes including verde antique, warm brown, and natural weathering bronze, as well as custom scale adjustments or entirely bespoke commissions inspired by the work of historical sculptors in the knight and dragon tradition. If you have a specific site, plinth specification, or scale requirement, contact us before ordering so we can advise on feasibility and logistics.
