About Our Bronze Elephant Statues
The elephant is the subject where bronze earns its cost most obviously. The skin is the whole character of the animal, folded and creased and hanging differently over each joint, and casting reproduces that from a modelled original in a way carving cannot approach at any reasonable scale.
Weight is the other consideration. A life-size elephant is around 300cm long, and in solid stone that becomes a structural problem for the ground it stands on as much as for the delivery. Bronze is cast hollow, so the same piece is manageable, and it can hold a raised trunk or a lifted foot that stone could not support.
The range covers standing and walking elephants, mothers with calves, raised-trunk figures and Asian temple treatments. Browse the material-agnostic version in elephant statues, which also covers fibreglass and marble, and the wider bronze work in bronze animal sculptures.
Access decides more than scale here. Check gates, paths and turning circles before ordering at life size, since delivery is to a kerbside or accessible ground-floor position. The mid sizes are the practical choice for most gardens. See bronze garden statues and life size bronze statues.
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch for advice on scale and access.
FAQs
Why bronze rather than stone for an elephant?
Skin and weight. Casting reproduces the folded, creased skin that gives the animal its character, which carving cannot match at scale. Bronze is also cast hollow, so a three-metre elephant remains manageable to deliver and place.
How large is a life-size elephant?
Around 300cm long and 250cm to 300cm tall for an adult African elephant. Access is usually the limiting factor rather than garden size.
What should I check before ordering?
Gates, paths and turning circles. Delivery is crated to a kerbside or accessible ground-floor position rather than placed and installed, so the route to the position matters more than the position itself.
Do you make mother and calf groups?
Yes, and they work particularly well in a garden because the pairing gives two focal points at different heights within one composition.
Can they stay outdoors?
Yes, permanently and without protection. The patina deepens over the years.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
