About Our Bronze Garden Statues
Bronze is the only sculptural material that improves by being left outside. Every other option we work in is being defended against the weather; bronze uses it. Rain, air and time draw a green and brown patina across the surface that collectors pay more for, and no amount of studio work reproduces it convincingly.
That is why this is the largest part of our garden range. Every piece here is cast bronze, chased and patinated by hand, and made to stand permanently in a British garden without protection, covering or seasonal storage. The subjects run across animals, classical figures, angels, water features and abstract forms.
Scale is set by the setting rather than the sculpture. Open ground swallows anything modest, which is why so much of the collection stands at or above life size. Browse by subject in bronze animal sculptures, bronze figures and statues and bronze fountains.
Two practical points that apply to everything here. Anything at or near life size wants a concrete pad or a proper plinth rather than bare soil, both for stability and to keep the base out of standing water. And nothing needs doing to the patina unless you want to slow it, in which case one coat of microcrystalline wax a year is enough. See the wider ranges in garden statues and bronze sculptures.
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch for advice on siting and foundations.
FAQs
Why bronze rather than stone for a garden?
Because bronze improves outdoors rather than merely surviving. The patina it develops over years is the finish collectors value most, and it needs no sealing, covering or winter storage to get there.
How long does a patina take to develop?
It begins within months and continues for years. Pieces arrive with a hand-applied patina already, and weather then deepens it into the greens and browns associated with garden bronze.
Do I need a foundation?
For anything at or near life size, yes. A concrete pad or proper plinth gives stability in wind and keeps the base clear of soil and standing water, which is what causes problems over decades.
What maintenance is needed?
None, unless you want to slow the patina, in which case one coat of microcrystalline wax a year will do it. Most people prefer to leave it and let the piece settle.
What size should a garden bronze be?
Larger than instinct suggests. Open ground and sky swallow scale, which is why so much of this collection sits at or above life size. Reserve smaller pieces for terraces and courtyards.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
