About Our Wall Sculptures
A wall sculpture is not a picture with depth, it is a sculpture that happens to be mounted. The difference matters in practice: it has a silhouette against the wall, it casts a real shadow, and it reads from an angle as well as head on. That is why one of these holds a hallway in a way a framed piece never quite does.
The subjects here are unusual for wall-mounted work, and that is the character of the collection. Astronauts and figures make up three quarters of it, often half emerging from the wall as though passing through it, alongside balloon forms, animals and abstract shapes. It is the most figurative of our wall ranges by a wide margin.
Resin and timber do most of the making, in a palette led by white and gold with grey and blue behind. The style is contemporary with a strong Nordic and wabi sabi strand, which is unusual alongside such figurative subjects and is part of why the pieces work in restrained interiors. See the related figures in astronaut sculptures and the flatter relief work in 3D wall art.
These need clearance more than any other wall art, because they project properly. Check the stated depth against a hallway or a stairwell where people pass close. Most run 80cm or under, and this is the one wall range with a real presence in childrens rooms, where a figure emerging from the wall does something a print cannot. Browse the wider ranges in wall art and wall decor and Nordic art.
Every wall sculpture we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch if you would like help choosing a piece for a particular position.
FAQs
What is the difference between a wall sculpture and 3D wall art?
Depth and intent. 3D wall art is a panel with relief worked into its surface. A wall sculpture is a sculptural form mounted on the wall, with a silhouette and a real projection, often reading as though it is emerging from the plaster.
How far do they project?
Considerably further than relief panels, which is the point of them. Every product page gives the depth and it is worth checking against a corridor, stairwell or any position where people pass close.
How are they fixed to the wall?
With concealed brackets or mounting plates supplied with the piece. Because the weight sits away from the wall rather than flat against it, the fixing needs a solid substrate and appropriate anchors rather than plasterboard alone.
What subjects do you make?
Astronauts and human figures make up around three quarters of the range, often part-emerging from the wall, with balloon forms, animals and abstract shapes alongside. It is the most figurative of our wall collections.
Are they suitable for a childs room?
Yes, and it is one of the most popular uses. Over a third of the collection suits a nursery or childs bedroom, where a figure coming through the wall has an effect no framed print achieves.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
