About Our Bronze Deer Statues
A stag is a study in improbable structure. Several hundred kilos of animal stands on four legs no thicker than a wrist, carrying antlers that spread wider than its own body. Sculpting that convincingly means getting the balance exactly right, and casting it means bronze, because nothing else holds antlers at that span without thickening them into branches.
The range covers standing and alert stags, grazing and leaping deer, does and fawns, and antlered heads. Deer are the classic English parkland subject, which is why they sit so naturally in a garden with mature planting: they read as glimpsed rather than displayed.
Browse the wider subject across all materials in animal sculptures and statues, the related wild subjects in wildlife sculptures, and the full bronze animal range in bronze animal sculptures.
Site a stag near planting rather than in the open. A deer half-seen at the edge of a hedge or between trees does considerably more than one standing alone on a lawn, because that is how the animal is encountered. See bronze garden statues and garden statues.
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch to commission a particular species or pose.
FAQs
How large is a life-size stag?
Around 180cm at the antler tips for a red deer, less for fallow or roe. Life size generally works best, since the scale is part of what makes the animal recognisable at distance.
Why bronze for deer?
The legs and antlers. A stag stands on four very thin legs and carries antlers spreading wider than its body, and only bronze holds that span without thickening the antlers into branches.
Where should a deer sculpture be sited?
Near planting rather than in open lawn. Deer are encountered at the edge of woodland, and a stag half-seen through a hedge or between trees reads far better than one standing alone in the middle of a space.
Can they stay outdoors permanently?
Yes, without protection or winter storage. The patina will deepen over the years into greens and browns, which suits the subject particularly well.
Do you make does and fawns as well as stags?
Yes, along with grazing and leaping deer and antlered heads. Groups of two or three at different scales work well in a large garden.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every piece is cast to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
