The Large Traditional Recumbent Deer and Dharma Wheel Bronze Sculpture stands 180cm tall and presents a symmetrical three-piece composition of two recumbent deer flanking a central Dharmachakra, the whole arrangement unified on a shared flat rectangular platform. Each deer rests on a circular lotus-petal base, their bodies turned inward in quiet, meditative repose; between them, the eight-spoked Dharma Wheel rises from a vase-form lotus pedestal set on a square stepped plinth, its globe-tipped spokes catching the light with equal intensity across every surface.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, which preserves every carved detail from the lotus-petal relief on each base to the spoke geometry and globe finials of the wheel. The highly polished bright gold bronze finish is applied and burnished by hand, producing a uniform, mirror-like reflectivity that reads as warm and luminous under both natural and interior lighting. At 400kg, the casting weight alone confirms the density and solidity of the bronze throughout all three components. The result is a work of genuine material presence, not decorative shell work.
The composition draws on the iconography of the Deer Park at Sarnath, one of Buddhism's most enduring visual programmes, rendered here in a traditional bronze sculpture format suited to institutional, devotional, and architectural settings alike. The gold surface reads with equal conviction against pale stone floors, dark hardwood, polished marble, and open-air temple or garden forecourt settings. Its scale commands a formal axis: a reception hall, a meditation space, a ceremonial courtyard, or a landscaped terrace will all hold this piece without effort.
The polished gold finish shown is our standard specification for this work, but we are happy to discuss aged bronze, dark patina, or verde antique alternatives for those who prefer a quieter surface. Scale modifications are available: the composition can be enlarged or reduced while preserving the proportional relationship between the three elements. If you are considering a site-specific installation or have specific finish requirements, contact us before ordering and we will advise accordingly.
