Wabi Sabi Art

Wabi sabi finds the interest in what is imperfect, weathered and unfinished. A split in a board, an asymmetric edge, a surface left rough where convention says polish it: in this idiom those are the piece rather than faults in it. It is the deliberate opposite of the machined finish most contemporary decor aims for.

That makes the material choice unusually important, and half this collection is timber for good reason. Wood carries grain, checking and colour variation that no two boards share, so a wabi sabi panel is genuinely one of a kind rather than nominally so. Sandstone appears on a fifth of pieces for the same reason, bringing a matt, absorbent surface that reads as geological rather than manufactured.

Scale here is more modest than most of our ranges: nine in ten pieces run 80cm or under, and two thirds sit in the 30cm to 79cm band.
