About Our Mirror Art
A mirrored piece is the only wall art that changes with the room rather than sitting against it. What it shows is whatever is opposite, broken up and rearranged by the facets, so the same work reads differently in a bright hallway and a lamp-lit sitting room. It also does something useful: it throws light back into the space and makes a small room feel larger without pretending to be a mirror.
These are not flat mirrors. Almost the whole collection is dimensional, built from cut and bevelled segments, faceted tiles, mosaic fragments and formed discs, so the reflection is deliberately fragmented rather than literal. Around half combine mirror with leather, timber or worked metal, which gives the eye somewhere to rest between the reflective areas. Six in ten are built on geometry, which you can browse more widely in geometric art.
Silver leads the range, as you would expect, with a substantial run in gold, bronze and smoked tones for warmer schemes, and coloured glass alongside. The character is contemporary throughout and largely abstract. For related dimensional work in other materials see our 3D wall art and metal wall art.
Placement matters more here than with any other wall art, because the piece will show whatever faces it. Put it opposite a window, a lamp or something worth reflecting, not a blank wall. Nearly every piece is 80cm or larger and nearly half pass 160cm. These are interior works and should be kept away from damp. For pieces that come further off the wall, see our wall sculptures.
Every piece of mirror art we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch if you would like help choosing a piece for a particular wall and what it faces.
FAQs
Is mirror art the same as a mirror?
No. These are artworks that use mirrored glass as a material, built from cut, bevelled and faceted segments rather than a single flat sheet. They fragment and rearrange what is opposite them, so they are not usable as a mirror in the practical sense.
Where should mirror art be hung?
Opposite something worth reflecting. A window, a lamp, a planted corner or an interesting piece of furniture will all read well; a blank wall will not. It is the one category where what faces the piece matters as much as where it hangs.
Does it make a room look bigger?
Yes, in the same way any reflective surface does, though a fragmented piece does it more subtly than a plain mirror. It also bounces available light deeper into a space, which helps in narrow hallways and rooms with a single window.
How do I clean it?
A dry microfibre cloth for dust, and a barely damp one for marks, dried immediately. Do not spray glass cleaner directly onto the piece, as liquid running into the joints between segments can lift the backing over time.
Can mirror art go in a bathroom?
We would not recommend it. Persistent humidity gets behind the silvering at the cut edges and causes black spotting over time. A well-ventilated hallway or bedroom is a better position.
How is it made, and how long does it take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
