About Our Canvas Art
Canvas is the surface painters have worked on for five hundred years, and it still behaves differently from anything else on a wall. It takes texture, holds an edge of impasto, and softens light rather than bouncing it back. Ours are made the way that suggests: worked by hand, built up in layers, and finished as objects rather than printed and stretched.
That is the distinction worth understanding before you buy. Nearly half the collection is dimensional rather than flat, with raised plaster, applied stone, sculpted relief and mixed materials laid over the canvas ground. Some pieces set porcelain or cast acrylic into the surface; a number are lit from within. The result reads as a made thing at close range and as a composition from across the room. For the pieces that carry the most relief, see our 3D wall art, and for the illuminated works our LED and neon art.
The range is contemporary throughout. Most works are abstract, with landscape the strongest recognisable subject, and there is a run of geometric compositions alongside. White, black and blue lead the palette, with grey, gold and warm beige running through, so a piece can sit quietly in a neutral scheme or carry a wall on its own. Browse the wider style ranges in abstract art and landscape art.
Scale is the thing most people underestimate. The majority of the collection runs between 80cm and 130cm, and two in five pieces pass 160cm, which is the size that actually works above a long sofa or in a double-height space. Multi-panel sets are made to hang as one composition with the spacing planned in. These are interior works, suited to living rooms, offices and hallways. If you want the same scale in another material, see our metal wall art.
Every canvas we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. FAQs
Are these canvas prints or hand-finished works?
They are made by hand to order, not printed and stretched. Nearly half the collection is built up in relief with plaster, stone, applied metal or sculpted texture, and the rest is hand-finished. That is why no two pieces are identical.
How large does canvas wall art come?
Most pieces run between 80cm and 130cm, and around two in five pass 160cm. Multi-panel sets are designed to hang as one composition, so the stated size refers to the whole arrangement rather than a single panel. Every piece is made to order, so dimensions can be adjusted.
Do the canvases come framed?
Many pieces are supplied in a frame, most often a slim metal or timber surround, and others are finished as a stretched canvas with painted edges so no frame is needed. The product page states which applies and shows the frame options where there is a choice.
Can canvas art go in a bathroom or outdoors?
No. Canvas is an interior material and will not tolerate damp or temperature swings, so keep it out of bathrooms, conservatories and any covered outdoor position. For exterior walls, our outdoor wall art and decor range is made for exposure.
How do I clean and care for it?
Dust with a dry, soft brush or a clean microfibre cloth, working lightly across raised areas rather than pressing into them. Never use water, solvents or spray cleaners on a canvas surface. Keep pieces out of direct sunlight, which will fade pigment over time.
How is it made, and how long does it take?
Every canvas is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
