About Our Garden Fountains
A fountain is the only garden feature that works when you are not looking at it. Moving water gives a garden a sound as well as a focal point, and it masks traffic and neighbours in a way planting never manages. That is why a fountain in a small urban garden often does more than a larger sculpture would.
Cast bronze and carved marble make up most of the collection, both chosen because they take constant water without degrading. Bronze patinates and marble softens, but neither breaks down the way cast stone and concrete do when water runs over them year after year and freezes in winter.
The range covers tiered and cascading fountains, wall-mounted spouts, figurative pieces with cherubs, angels and animals, and contemporary water walls. Browse the related outdoor work in garden statues, angel statues and bronze sculptures.
Two practical points. A fountain needs a power supply for the pump, so plan the cable route before choosing a position, and it needs draining or covering before a hard frost, since water expanding inside a basin is what cracks stone. Sizes run from courtyard pieces to installations over three metres. See outdoor sculptures for the wider range.
Every fountain we make is cast or carved to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping. Get in touch for advice on siting, plumbing and power.
FAQs
Do garden fountains need plumbing?
Not usually. Most recirculate the same water through a submersible pump, so you fill the basin and top it up as it evaporates. What you do need is a power supply, so plan the cable route before choosing the position.
What happens in winter?
Drain or cover the fountain before a hard frost. Water expanding as it freezes inside a basin is what cracks stone and marble, and it is the single most common cause of damage to a garden fountain.
Which materials last best with running water?
Cast bronze and carved marble. Both take constant water without breaking down, unlike cast stone and concrete which erode and spall over years of flow and freezing.
How much noise does a fountain make?
Enough to mask traffic and neighbours, which is often the reason for buying one. A tiered or cascading design is louder than a single spout, and the drop height matters more than the volume of water.
How much maintenance is involved?
Clean the pump filter a few times a year, top up the water, and drain before winter. Marble should be rinsed with clean water only, never anything acidic or abrasive.
How are they made, and how long do they take?
Every fountain is cast or carved by hand to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
