Description

The Large Traditional Galapagos Tortoise Bronze Fountain stands 80cm tall, rendered at life-size scale with exceptional anatomical fidelity. Every scute of the domed shell, every ridge of scaled skin across the neck and legs, has been individually worked to produce a sculpture that reads as authentic as any natural history specimen.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished

Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this piece begins as a hand-sculpted original before being replicated in solid cast bronze with a density and permanence that no resin or reconstituted stone alternative can match. The surface carries a deep dark brown-black patina with warm bronze undertones breaking through the high-relief texture of the shell scutes and leg scales. This bronze tortoise fountain is then hand-finished in our workshops to refine the patina gradation across the form. The fountain mechanism is integrated into the sculpture with the water line routed discreetly at the base; water rises through the neck and spouts gently from the open mouth, producing a calm, naturalistic flow suited to contemplative garden settings.

At 500kg, this is a substantial installation piece. It sits without a formal plinth, resting directly on its integral base, which makes it equally at home set into a cobbled courtyard, placed beside a formal pond, or positioned as a centrepiece in a large garden terrace. The dark patina is weatherproof and deepens attractively outdoors over time. Its scale and detail also make it a commanding feature within large interior atria, conservatories, or reception spaces with adequate clearance and drainage provision.

Production Time

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
