The Large Contemporary Winged Horse Bronze Sculpture, standing 90cm tall, is a striking abstract interpretation of Pegasus rendered in an open negative-space silhouette: a rearing form defined as much by air and absence as by bronze itself.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax process, this abstract bronze horse sculpture achieves its dramatic character through careful hand-finishing at every stage. The surfaces carry a high-contrast two-tone patina: raised planes polished to a warm, near-gold reflectivity, while recessed areas are darkened to a deep near-black, tracing every contour of the abstracted wing feathers and open limb structure. The result reads differently in every light, shifting from silhouette to glowing relief as the ambient conditions change.
The sculpture is as comfortable in a gallery-lit interior as it is on an outdoor terrace or in a formal garden setting. Against pale stone, white render, or dark hardwood floors it commands space without overwhelming it. Equally, placed outdoors against an open sky, the open-form silhouette and spread wings operate almost as architectural line drawing. The thin flat bronze base plate keeps the overall footprint minimal while anchoring the upward-reaching composition with visual confidence.
We offer a full range of patina options including warm golden bronze, cool antique verde, and deep near-black monochromes. The sculpture can also be scaled up or down on commission to suit specific architectural briefs. Those seeking a piece inspired by the work of Douwe Elias may enquire directly for bespoke consultation. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.
