The Traditional Standing Heron Bronze Sculpture stands 110cm tall, presenting a single grey heron caught in a moment of composed alertness: neck arched gracefully upward, beak levelled forward, wings fanned slightly at the rear, and broad tail feathers spread in quiet display.
Each piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, a process that preserves every strand of feather detail across the wings and body, every fine crest feather sculpted along the back of the head, and the precise texture of the bird's splayed, taloned feet. The surface carries a warm brown bronze patina deepened by subtle blue-green verdigris oxidation across the torso, giving the sculpture the depth and tonal complexity of a piece that has weathered time. The heron stands on a low cylindrical stone-effect plinth that grounds the composition without competing with the figure above it. This is handcrafted bronze sculpture built to the standard of a gallery commission.
At 110cm, this sculpture commands attention in a generous entrance hall, a formal living room, or a conservatory. Outdoors, it reads with equal authority beside a garden pond, along a stone terrace, or within a walled courtyard. The warm patina sits naturally against aged timber, pale limestone, brushed concrete, and dark evergreen planting. Its weight of 25kg ensures stability on open ground without additional fixing in most sheltered positions.
We offer a full range of patina finishes including dark antique brown, cool silvered bronze, and traditional verdigris. The sculpture can be produced at an increased or reduced scale to suit a specific architectural context. If you are considering a bespoke commission, perhaps a version inspired by the work of a particular figurative sculptor in the naturalist tradition, please contact us before placing your order so we can discuss specifications in detail.
