The Monumental Reclining Rabbit and Child Reading Bronze Sculpture stands 180cm tall and presents one of the most quietly arresting narrative compositions in our collection. A giant rabbit reclines at ground level, legs extended forward, its faceted angular form giving the body a considered, almost architectural weight. Against its flank, a small child sits absorbed in an open book, while a second, smaller rabbit lies at rest in the foreground. The scale contrast is deliberate and deeply affecting.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, each element of this large bronze rabbit sculpture is hand-finished by our skilled foundry team. The surface carries a rich dark brown to near-black patina with a consistent matte texture, lending the piece the appearance of something that has always belonged exactly where it stands. The rabbit's angular, faceted modelling is preserved with precision through the casting process, giving the form a sculptural crispness that rewards close inspection as much as distance. This is handcrafted bronze at monumental scale, built to endure outdoors and to anchor interior spaces with equal authority.
At 180cm and weighing 1,000kg, this sculpture commands any setting it occupies. Landscaped gardens, civic plazas, institutional courtyards, and generous residential grounds are all natural homes for it. Indoors, a double-height atrium, a gallery entrance hall, or a significant foyer would carry its presence with distinction. The dark patina sits naturally against stone paving, gravel, grass, or polished concrete, and reads equally well against pale rendered walls or dark timber cladding.
We offer alternative patina finishes including warm mid-brown, verde green, and natural weathering tones. The composition can also be scaled to suit specific site requirements, from a more intimate garden scale up to full civic installation dimensions. For those wishing to commission a bespoke variation inspired by the work of Barry Flanagan or other narrative figurative sculptors, we welcome that conversation. Contact us before ordering to discuss finish, scale, or any site-specific requirements.
