The Monumental Contemporary Children with Double Bass Bronze Sculpture stands at an imposing 220cm and presents four cherubic child figures caught in playful interaction with a dramatically oversized double bass, its body tilted at a diagonal across an undulating wave-form base in a composition that is equal parts joyful and architecturally commanding.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, every surface of this large cast bronze sculpture is hand-finished and hand-chased before being treated to a deep, dark greenish-black patina that settles consistently across the figures and instrument alike. The f-holes, strings, and scroll of the double bass are rendered with careful fidelity; the bow held in one figure's hands, the raised arm of the standing child to the right, and the climbing figure reaching toward the scroll are all resolved with the same sculptural precision. This is monumental bronze garden sculpture at a scale that commands presence without sacrificing intimacy or warmth.
Weighing 1,050kg and rising to 220cm, this piece is suited to civic plazas, hotel forecourts, large private gardens, and institutional grounds. The dark bronze patina reads well against pale stone paving, clipped hedging, contemporary glass facades, and open lawn settings. The organic wave-form integral base lifts the composition naturally from any flat surface and eliminates the need for a separate plinth.
We offer a range of patina options beyond the standard dark greenish-black, including natural verde, warm mid-brown, and satin golden bronze. The composition can also be produced at a reduced scale for estate or garden contexts with more confined proportions. For clients inspired by the work of contemporary figurative sculptors working in the whimsical musical tradition, we welcome bespoke brief discussions. Please contact us before ordering to confirm your specification.
