The Monumental Classical Laocoön and Sons Bronze Sculpture stands at a commanding 220cm, presenting one of antiquity's most dramatic figural groups in full monumental scale. Three figures, a straining bearded male flanked by two younger figures, are locked in desperate combat with vast intertwining serpents, every muscle and sinew rendered in exacting detail.
This large classical bronze sculpture is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, a process that preserves every anatomical nuance: the torsion of the central figure's raised arm, the writhing coils of the serpents, the anguished expressions across all three faces. The surface carries a deep brown-black patina with subtle specular highlights that trace the musculature and give the group its characteristic gallery presence. The two-tier stepped base combines a dark bronze integral platform with a warm, veined terracotta-orange marble lower plinth, grounding the composition with the material contrast the original Hellenistic work demands.
At 220cm and 380kg, this is a piece for significant architectural settings: a grand entrance hall, a double-height reception space, a formal courtyard, or a landscaped terrace. The dark bronze tones read beautifully against pale stone, whitewashed render, dark timber, or mature greenery. Equally resolved indoors or out, the cast bronze construction is fully weatherproof and requires no sheltering from the elements.
Patina options extend beyond the default brown-black finish to include aged verdigris, warm mid-brown, and contemporary dark anthracite. The sculpture can be scaled upward for truly monumental civic or commercial installations. This group was composed in the spirit of the celebrated Hellenistic original and can be adapted, inspired by the work of the ancient Rhodian sculptors attributed to the original, to suit specific spatial requirements. Contact us before ordering to discuss scale, finish, or siting logistics for a piece of this weight and presence.
