The Monumental Classical Goddesses with Child and Lion Medallion Bronze Fountain stands at an imposing 250cm, presenting a fully symmetrical composition of two robed female figures flanking a central child, crowned by a phoenix finial and anchored by a tiered acanthus-relief basin.
This fountain is cast entirely in solid bronze using the traditional lost-wax method, a process that preserves the fine surface articulation of the lyre-holding figures, the lion-head medallion, and the shell-backed roundel at the composition's heart. Every pour is followed by extensive hand-finishing: chasing the relief details, refining the acanthus scrollwork on the oval base, and applying a controlled verdigris patina that deepens the oxidised blue-green across the surface. The result reads as authentically aged, carrying the visual weight of a classical civic monument. At 600kg, the structural integrity is absolute.
Designed for grand exterior installations, this piece suits formal garden axes, courtyard centrepieces, hotel forecourts, and estate water features. The cool verdigris finish pairs naturally with limestone paving, clipped hedging, and pale render. Its monumental scale demands open sightlines of at least three to four metres; set against a dark yew or stone wall backdrop, the patina glows with particular authority. Integrated fountain plumbing is built into the tiered basin structure, making this a fully functional garden fountain sculpture as well as a work of considerable decorative presence.
The verdigris patina shown is our classical default for this composition, but we can apply a warm brown antiqued finish, a dark espresso patina, or a polished natural bronze surface on request. Scale adjustments are available for both reduction and enlargement. For clients inspired by the work of classical European figurative sculptors working in the monumental tradition, we are experienced in developing fully bespoke fountain commissions from concept through to installation. Contact us before ordering to discuss patina, scale, or plumbing specifications.
