Description

A commanding study in maternal stillness, this life-size bronze mare and foal sculpture stands 90cm tall and weighs a substantial 250kg. The mare holds her head low and protective, her neck arched gently downward toward the recumbent foal sheltering beneath her body. Together they occupy a shared flat rectangular base, the composition complete and self-contained. The high-gloss dark brown patina catches warm reddish-bronze light across the flanks, while the mane and tail are carved with close, individual strand detail. Naturalistic musculature runs from shoulder to haunch without idealisation, the anatomy of a working horse rendered with respect and precision.

Cast Bronze, Lost-Wax Process

This sculpture is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, which preserves fine surface carving through every stage of production. Each casting is hand-finished by our workshop artisans, with the patina applied by hand and sealed under a high-gloss lacquer for durability and depth of colour. The result is a surface that reads differently in morning light than in late afternoon, the warm bronze tones shifting with the angle of illumination. At 250kg, this is a piece that commands ground-level placement and permanence.

Suited to both indoor and outdoor settings, the sculpture performs equally well as a centrepiece in a reception hall, a country estate entrance, or an open courtyard. The bronze base provides stable footing on level ground. For outdoor placement, the lacquered patina provides weather resistance, though periodic maintenance wax will preserve the finish over time.

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
