Life-Size Traditional Mare and Foal Bronze Sculpture by Giant Sculptures, showing a mare bowing toward a foal beside a standing female figure on a circular plinth.
Life-Size Traditional Mare and Foal Bronze Sculpture (Companion Piece) - 190cm $115,42600
Description

A monumental three-figure composition cast in dark patinated bronze, standing 190cm tall: a full-size mare bowing her heavy head toward a young foal at her chest, while a standing female figure rests behind the foal in quiet attendance. The tenderness of the pose is arrested in metal with complete conviction, the mare's curved neck, the foal's upward lean, the woman's stillness all held on a single circular plinth that locks the group into one unified moment.

This piece is a companion sculpture designed to pair with our Life-Size Mare and Foal with Female Handler Bronze Sculpture - 250cm, sold separately.

Cast Bronze, Hand-Finished to Museum Standard

Produced through the traditional lost-wax casting method, each figure is poured individually and assembled by hand. The deep, dark patina is applied in layers and sealed, giving the surface its characteristic warm bronze-black tone. Mane fall, tail drape, coat texture, and the human figure's hair are worked by hand at the finishing stage, with detail resolved at close inspection as well as across a formal garden. At 200kg across a grounded circular base, the group sits with absolute permanence in any outdoor setting.

Designed for open outdoor placement, a formal garden lawn, a stable courtyard, an estate approach, or a centrepiece within manicured hedging. The circular plinth integrates directly onto paving, stone, or grass. No shelter required; the patina is formulated for year-round exterior exposure.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

Patina can be specified across a range of finishes from raw warm bronze to deep verde or polished highlights. Scale variants are available for estate, public, or private garden contexts. Full bespoke commissions, altered composition, additional figures, or custom plinth design, are welcomed. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.

Questions Before You Order?

If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.

The metal of antiquity

Solid Cast Bronze

Every one of our cast bronze sculptures is poured in solid bronze, the alloy sculptors have prized for more than five thousand years. It is heavier, warmer and far more enduring than any resin imitation, giving each bronze statue a depth and presence that only real metal can.

Poured by hand

Foundry Cast

Each piece is cast in a working foundry, where molten bronze is poured at over a thousand degrees, then cooled, broken out and worked by hand. It is a craft refined over centuries, and it is the reason every bronze sculpture carries the mark of the people who made it.

Made to your measure

Fully Bespoke

Have something specific in mind? We can scale the size, choose the patina and take on full commissions, casting a one-off bronze sculpture to your exact brief. Tell us what you picture, and our artists will make it.

A finish that lives

Hand-Patinated

Colour is brought to bronze by hand. Our finishers work each patina with heat and patience, so no two pieces are ever quite the same. Left outdoors, that patina keeps evolving, softening from bright metal into the deep greens and browns that collectors prize.

Built to outlast us all

Weatherproof for Life

Bronze has survived three thousand years of history, and ours is made to do the same. It shrugs off rain, frost and sun, which is exactly what makes bronze garden statues such a sound investment. Every piece is backed by our lifetime guarantee.

Anywhere in the world

Free Worldwide Shipping

Solid bronze is heavy, so we handle the hard part. Every sculpture travels by fully insured worldwide sea freight and arrives at your door in perfect condition, with nothing to pay on delivery.

Two large, black bear-shaped sculptures stand indoors near a window with a view of a yard. One sculpture is in the foreground with its back to the viewer, and the other faces forward, creating a mirrored effect. Trees and a chair are visible outside.
A shiny metallic bear sculpture stands on the corner of a modern buildings patio, mirrored by another similar black figure in the foreground. The area features minimalistic architecture with large glass windows.
