The Life-Size Traditional Boxing Hares Bronze Sculpture presents two brown hares rearing up on their hind legs, forepaws raised and reaching toward one another in a spirited sparring display. At 80cm tall and cast as a matched pair, the composition captures the fleeting, instinctive energy of a spring field encounter with striking naturalism.
Each hare is produced using the lost-wax casting method, a technique that preserves the finest surface detail from the original sculpted model. The result is a hand-finished bronze hare sculpture with naturalistic fur texture running across the flanks, ears, and raised forepaws. A deep, dark brown patina has been applied and hand-worked to accentuate the modelling, lending depth to the recessed areas while allowing the high points to carry a warmer bronze tone. The pair stands on low, irregular organic-form bronze bases that echo the uneven ground of a meadow, grounding the figures without imposing formal geometry.
At 80cm in height and 60kg per pair, this is a substantial life-size bronze animal sculpture suited to a wide range of settings. Indoors, the pair reads well against stone flooring, dark timber shelving, or within a glass-fronted entrance hall. Outdoors, the figures integrate naturally into gravel pathways, planted borders, or lawn settings where their colouring and finish weather gracefully over time. The traditional style and earthy patina complement both period country-house contexts and clean contemporary garden schemes alike.
We offer a range of patina finishes beyond the standard dark brown, including verde green, light natural bronze, and blackened antique. The pair can also be scaled up or down to meet specific spatial requirements, or repositioned compositionally for a tailored installation. If you would like to discuss a bespoke version inspired by the work of Sophie Ryder or another figurative wildlife sculptor, contact us before ordering and we will advise on scope and timeline.
