Large Contemporary Fighting Hares Bronze Sculpture, standing 180cm tall as a commanding pair, presents two anthropomorphic hare figures frozen in a balletic boxing confrontation, each balanced with fluid precision on the apex of a tall tapered obelisk plinth. The elongated limbs, upright stances, and mirror-image composition give the work a theatrical energy that reads powerfully from a distance.
Each figure is cast using the traditional lost-wax method, which preserves every expressive detail of the original modelled form: the stretch of an outstretched arm, the tension across the torso, the slight forward lean of confrontation. The surface carries a near-black dark bronze patina, matte to lightly textured, lending the pair a monumental gravity that suits both formal and naturalistic settings. As a large abstract bronze sculpture pair, the total visual footprint is considerable; allow generous circulation space so both figures and the negative space between them can be fully appreciated.
Weighing 200kg combined, these sculptures have the physical presence to anchor an expansive outdoor setting. They suit wide stone terraces, formal axial garden paths, courtyard entrances, and open civic or commercial landscapes. The dark patina holds well against both pale limestone and warm brick surroundings, and the vertical geometry of the obelisk plinths pairs naturally with clipped hedging or architectural planting.
The patina can be adjusted on request: warmer mid-brown bronze, aged verdigris, or a polished highlight finish over the dark base are all achievable. Scale can be modified for smaller courtyard settings or larger monumental installations. The composition is inspired by the work of Barry Flanagan, and we welcome enquiries about bespoke variations on the pose, plinth height, or surface treatment.
