The Large Contemporary Dancing Hare Bronze Sculpture, standing at 150cm, is an intensely kinetic figure: an anthropomorphic hare caught mid-movement, balanced on a single elongated leg with the opposite limb thrust wide, one fist driving forward and the other arm sweeping back, ears splayed in opposing directions as though caught by wind or momentum.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this large bronze hare sculpture carries a deep, near-black matte patina applied by hand after casting. The surface tone is consistent and controlled, with subtle textural variation across the limbs and torso that rewards close inspection. This is not a smooth, idealised finish; it is the honest surface of a hand-worked bronze, with the kind of depth that develops character in both direct light and shade. The piece weighs 150kg, giving it the permanent, rooted quality appropriate to its scale and dynamism.
Suited to open lawns, formal garden settings, and contemporary interiors with sufficient volume, this contemporary bronze rabbit statue reads powerfully against stone facades, clipped hedgerow, pale render, or polished concrete. It performs equally well indoors in entrance halls, double-height atria, or gallery-style living spaces where the dark patina anchors the composition against light walls or timber floors.
We offer a range of alternative patina finishes including warm brown, verdigris, and natural oxidised tones. The sculpture can also be commissioned at a different scale to suit a specific site or interior. For those interested in related figurative compositions inspired by the work of Barry Flanagan, or wishing to discuss a fully bespoke brief, please contact us before ordering so we can advise on the best approach.
