The Large Contemporary Crouching Gargoyle Demon Bronze Sculpture stands 150cm tall, a commanding, muscular figure rendered in full crouching stance with bat wings spread wide, curved ram horns rising from the brow, and a snarling open mouth revealing fangs. At 140kg of solid cast bronze, its presence is unmistakable.
This piece is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, which captures every anatomical detail with precision: the ribbed membrane of each large bat-style wing, the individually modelled digits on clawed hands and feet, the coiling serpentine tail, and the dense musculature across chest and abdomen. The surface carries a dark brown patina applied by hand, with lighter warm bronze highlights burnished across the claws, chest, and wing membranes to draw the eye across the sculpture's form. No two hand-finished pieces are identical in tonal variation.
This sculpture suits interiors with architectural scale: double-height entrance halls, stone-floored galleries, collector's rooms, or dramatic commercial lobbies. Outdoors, it holds its own against rendered walls, slate paving, or landscaped grounds where a strong focal statement is required. The dark patina reads well against pale stone, industrial concrete, and timber alike.
We offer the full range of bronze patinas including verde green, black, aged brown, and polished natural bronze. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific space, from reduced interior editions to monumental commissions beyond the standard height. The piece can also be adapted with a custom plinth or integrated base. If you have a specific requirement, contact us before ordering so we can confirm specification and lead time. This design draws on a long tradition of demonic and guardian figure sculpture and can be further developed as a bespoke commission inspired by the work of Fernando Botero's figurative approach to volume, or other sculptural references you wish to bring to the design.
