The Large Classical Seated Gargoyle Demon Bronze Sculpture, standing 150cm tall, is a commanding figurative work rooted in centuries of architectural guardian mythology. Muscular, winged, and rendered with forensic anatomical detail, this piece occupies space with the weight and presence of cathedral stonework brought to life.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax process, every surface of this large bronze gargoyle sculpture is hand-finished to achieve a uniform dark grey-brown matte patina that reads more stone than metal at distance. The effect is deliberate: it echoes the aged limestone finish of medieval architectural carvings while retaining the structural integrity and permanence of solid bronze. Up close, the hand-worked detail rewards examination. The pronounced musculature across the torso and limbs, the swept bat wings rising behind the figure, the clawed hands and feet, the furrowed brow and snout, all carry the tool marks and intentionality of skilled artisans working in the lost-wax tradition. The dark patinated bronze demon statue sits on an integral square pedestal plinth with stepped moulding at the crown and base, consistent in finish with the figure itself.
This sculpture is as suited to a stone-flagged entrance hall or double-height foyer as it is to a walled courtyard or formal garden terrace. Its dark, near-monochromatic palette reads strongly against pale limestone, rendered brick, or weathered timber. Indoors, it pairs with dark hardwood floors, metal-framed glazing, and collections that lean into the architectural or the macabre. Outdoors, positioned on a raised plinth or at the foot of stone steps, it takes on the character of a genuine architectural sentinel.
The standard dark grey-brown stone patina shown here can be adjusted to a warmer traditional bronze, a verdigris antiqued finish, or a high-polish black. Scale variants above or below 150cm are available on request. This figure has historically been produced in contexts inspired by the work of classical architectural sculpture traditions, and we welcome enquiries for paired or mirrored commissions. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.
