Large Classical Mare and Foal Bronze Sculpture by Giant Sculptures in mirror-polished gold, two horses on a stepped plinth against a plain light grey background.
Large Classical Mare and Foal Bronze Sculpture (Foal Companion) - 165cm $106,80200
Description

A monumental double-figure composition in mirror-polished gold bronze, standing 165cm tall across a shared stepped plinth. Mare and foal stand in quiet parallel, the adult turned gently outward, the foal positioned forward to her left, a moment of stillness caught in 450kg of cast bronze. The surface carries an exceptionally bright, almost blinding gold polish, amplifying every muscular contour and the flowing wave of the mare's sculpted mane and tail.

This piece is the foal companion designed to pair with our Monumental Mare and Foal Bronze Sculpture - 185cm, sold separately.

Cast Bronze, Lost-Wax Method

Both figures are produced using the traditional lost-wax casting process, which captures the anatomical precision of stretched muscle, fine mane hair, and the subtle weight shift across each leg. The high-gloss gold finish is applied by hand, buffed to a near-mirror reflectivity that reads as luminous under natural or artificial light. The chamfered rectangular plinth with its corner feet is cast as an integrated unit, grounding both figures on a single structural base.

At 165cm and 450kg, this sculpture is suited to entrance halls, grand lobbies, covered outdoor courtyards, and estate driveways. Given the mirror finish, a covered or sheltered position will maintain reflectivity. Indoor positioning against a dark wall maximises the visual impact of the gold surface.

Handmade to Order, Fully Customisable

The gold polish is one option among many. We offer traditional dark brown patina, verde antique, silver-tone polish, or a two-tone treatment combining polished surfaces with oxidised recesses. Scale can be adjusted, and bespoke commissions, including different breed conformations or altered poses, are welcome. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
