The Large Classical Atlas Bearing Globe Bronze Sculpture stands at 150cm and depicts the titan condemned to carry the weight of the world, rendered here with commanding anatomical precision and extraordinary surface detail. Every contour of the strained torso, the raised arms locked overhead, and the bowed, bearded head communicates effort, endurance, and mythic scale.
This large bronze Atlas sculpture is produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, a process that faithfully captures the fine relief detail across the globe's continental surface, the articulated musculature of the torso and arms, the cloth wrappings at the lower legs, and the texture of the figure's beard and curly hair. The finish is a dark bronze patina with grey-green oxidation and warm brown undertones, deepening in the recessed areas to accentuate every carved line. The result is a surface that reads as ancient and authoritative, consistent with the Classical tradition the figure embodies.
At 150cm and 120kg, this is a substantial statement piece suited to entrance halls, gallery spaces, libraries, private courtyards, or formal garden settings. Its dark tonal range pairs naturally with stone flooring, whitewashed walls, polished concrete, and aged timber. Equally at home indoors or outdoors, bronze is inherently weather-resistant and develops character with exposure over time.
Patina options include warm golden bronze, verdigris green, natural aged brown, and blackened finishes. Scale can be adjusted to suit your specific space, from a smaller interior version to a monumental outdoor commission. If you wish to discuss a bespoke size, alternative finish, or a commission inspired by the work of Thorvaldsen, contact us before placing your order and we will provide a full consultation.
