The Classical Mercury Bronze Sculpture stands 150cm tall, presenting the Roman messenger god frozen at the precise moment of ascent: weight poised on a single foot, right arm reaching skyward with index finger extended, left hand gripping the serpent-entwined caduceus, left leg swept back in the suggestion of flight.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this piece carries a rich dark verde antique bronze patina across the body, with deliberate green oxidation worked into the musculature and drapery folds to convey age and depth. Against that darkness, the winged petasus helmet, ankle talaria, and caduceus crown are finished in a contrasting gilded gold, producing a two-tone surface that rewards close inspection. The result is what distinguishes a handcrafted bronze statue from reproduction casting: every surface transition is resolved by hand, not by machine.
The sculpture is mounted on a tiered base: a sculpted rocky mound at foot level rises to a circular bronze drum plinth, which in turn sits on a square green marble slab. That layered foundation gives the figure genuine vertical authority indoors or out. At 150cm, it commands an entrance hall, a double-height reception space, a covered colonnade, or a formal garden terrace. The dark patina reads well against pale stone, whitewashed render, or mature hedging; the gilded accents hold their presence in natural daylight and warm interior lighting equally.
The default finish is the dark verde antique with gold gilding as shown. We can produce the figure in a full warm golden bronze, a uniform dark patina without gilding, or a polished natural bronze if preferred. Scale can be adjusted up or down to suit your space. The composition can also be commissioned as a smaller study piece or scaled beyond the standard 150cm for monumental installations, inspired by the work of Giovanni da Bologna. Contact us before ordering to discuss your requirements.
