The Classical Bronze Cherub Urn Sculpture stands 140cm tall and presents one of the most elaborately detailed decorative bronze forms in our collection. A seated putto reclines on the urn's upper rim, legs dangling freely, embodying the easy confidence of classical decorative sculpture. Below him, the urn body carries relief-carved floral garlands, paired lion head handles, and a lotus petal border at the base bowl, all crowned by a domed lid with an acanthus-bordered collar and a solid spherical finial.
This piece is cast using the traditional lost-wax bronze casting method, which preserves every carved detail from the acanthus leaf pedestal foot to the fine relief work across the urn body. The surface is hand-finished to a dark antique bronze patina, deep brown-black in tone with faint reddish undertones emerging at the relief highlights. The result is a consistent, aged appearance that reads as genuinely historic rather than artificially distressed. At 120kg, the piece carries the weight and permanence of serious architectural sculpture.
Its classical Campana-style form and symmetrical composition suit grand interior settings equally to outdoor formal gardens. Stone-flagged terraces, entrance halls, period courtyards, and gallery-style interiors all provide suitable contexts. The dark patina works well against warm stone, aged brick, clipped hedging, and pale interior walls alike.
We offer a range of patina options including verdigris, golden brown, and polished bronze highlights. The sculpture can be scaled up or down to suit specific architectural contexts, and bespoke variations on the decorative programme are available on request. If you have a specific commission in mind, contact us before ordering and we will advise on the most suitable approach. This design draws on a long tradition of classical garden and interior ornament, and can be interpreted in a manner inspired by the work of historical European bronze founders.
