About Our Wood Wall Art
Wood is the warmest surface you can put on a wall. It absorbs light rather than reflecting it, carries grain that no two panels share, and brings a room down in temperature in a way that metal and glass cannot. It is also the material that best survives changing taste, which is why timber panelling outlasts most things hung near it.
Nearly every piece in this collection is carved, cut or assembled rather than printed. Slatted panels build rhythm from repeated battens; sculpted reliefs are shaped and sanded by hand; parquet and marquetry work sets tone against tone across a surface. A number combine timber with metal, sandstone or leather for contrast. Almost all of it stands proud of the wall, which is why the collection sits largely within our 3D wall art range.
The character is contemporary and mostly non-representational. Four in five pieces are abstract and around half are built on geometry, from fanned arcs to interlocking tiles. White and natural tones lead, with blue, green and black running through where timber is stained or paired. There is a distinct Scandinavian and wabi sabi strand in the range, which you can browse in Nordic art, wabi sabi art and organic art.
Most pieces run between 80cm and 130cm, with two in five passing 160cm for larger walls and stairwells. Timber suits living rooms, offices and hallways, and works particularly well in spaces with hard floors and plaster walls that need softening. Keep it away from damp and direct heat. For the same forms in a colder material, see our metal wall art.
Every piece of wood wall art we make is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. FAQs
What kind of wood is used?
The range uses solid timber and engineered panel depending on the piece, finished natural, stained, limed or painted. Grain and tone vary from board to board, so no two panels are identical even within the same design. Each product page lists the timber and finish.
Is wood wall art carved or printed?
Carved, cut or assembled. The collection is made up of slatted panels, sculpted reliefs, parquet and marquetry work rather than printed images on board, which is why almost all of it stands proud of the wall.
Can wood wall art go in a bathroom or outdoors?
No. Timber moves with humidity and will cup, split or delaminate in a bathroom, conservatory or any outdoor position. Keep it in a dry interior and away from direct heat sources such as radiators and log burners.
How large does it come?
Most pieces run between 80cm and 130cm, with around two in five passing 160cm. Smaller panels from 30cm group well in sets. Every piece is made to order, so dimensions can be adjusted to a specific wall.
How do I clean and care for it?
Dust along the grain with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid water, sprays and silicone polishes, which will mark an oiled or limed finish permanently. If a piece dries out over several years, a light coat of clear furniture wax will restore it.
How is it made, and how long does it take?
Every piece is handcrafted to order by our artists, designed in Birmingham and made in our worldwide studios. Standard production takes around three to four weeks, and we offer free worldwide shipping.
