Landscape Art

Landscape is the oldest way of putting depth on a wall, and the one subject where a picture genuinely functions as a window. That is why it suits interior rooms and windowless spaces better than any other subject: it gives the eye somewhere to travel in a place that otherwise offers nothing.

These are not printed views. The landscapes here are built in relief, with layered strata, cut ridgelines, poured resin water and raised horizons, so the depth in the image is real depth rather than perspective. Nearly four in five pieces are dimensional. Mountains, water and horizon compositions dominate, with a third of the range treated in a restrained Japanese-influenced manner.

This is one of our largest-format ranges: nearly all of it is 80cm or larger and six in ten pieces pass 160cm. That is appropriate, because a landscape needs width to establish distance and a narrow piece reads as a fragment. Hang it where there is a viewing distance of two metres or more if you can.
