About Our Cardboard Art

Cardboard is an unlikely material for a wall and a very good one. Cut on edge it shows its corrugation as a fine ribbed line, layered it stacks into deep relief at almost no weight, and it takes a curve that rigid board cannot. It is also the only material we work in that is entirely recyclable at the end of its life.

Weight is the practical advantage. A metre-wide cardboard relief weighs a fraction of the same piece in timber or metal, which means it can hang on plasterboard, on a stud wall in a rented flat, or above a bed without the fixing anxiety that comes with a heavy panel.

The work is contemporary and largely abstract, with geometric and organic forms built from cut and stacked layers. Browse the related relief work in 3D wall art and mixed media art, and the other light material in textile and fabric wall art.

Keep it dry. Cardboard is the most humidity-sensitive material in our catalogue, so avoid kitchens, bathrooms and any exterior position, and keep pieces away from radiators where the board can warp. In a normal dry interior it is stable and long-lasting. See wall art and wall decor.
