Yellow to Orange Melting Frame Resin Armchair, 90cm, with crested arched back and dripping legs, shown on a plain white background.
Yellow to Orange Melting Frame Resin Armchair - 90cm $4,25200
Description

The whole frame of this graded resin armchair is cast as though it were melting: a crested back with an arch cut through it, arms that curve forward and away, and four legs that fall and gather on their way to the floor. The colour runs from a clear yellow at the crest to a strong orange at the feet, so the piece darkens as it goes down and the seat sits between the two.

A Frame Caught in the Act of Melting

The melting form is modelled into the mould over the entire frame, so the back, the arms and the legs are one piece, with no joint at any of the places a chair usually has one. The arch through the crest is opened in the mould rather than cut afterwards, which keeps the worked surface running through its inner faces. The two tints are laid in one after the other and blended while both are still live, so the yellow gives way to orange over a span rather than at a line. Every face is polished, the undersides of the arms included, and the four feet are ground level together, since an armchair that rocks is unusable rather than merely imperfect.

At 90cm to the crest this is an armchair for a sitting room or a wide hall, and it takes an adult comfortably. The graduation is read best with the chair away from a wall, since the colour runs down the back as well as the front. Light from one side gives the melting frame its shadows, and a pale floor returns the orange at the feet where a dark one absorbs it.

The Graduation, the Cut Arch, and Moving It

Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. Placing an order settles three choices. The two tints can be exchanged or run the other way, and the arch through the crest can be left closed for a solid back. Arm width and crest height are quoted to your own figures. For a matching group, the turn from yellow to orange is set once and carried through it. Crated with the crest arch and the four dripping feet protected, it is a four-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frame melting from yellow crest to orange feet gives our art furniture an armchair; the dripping legs suit our organic sculptures, its graded body our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
