Yellow Bird in a Purple Hand Resin Sculpture - 40cm, a yellow bird rising from a purple hand with pink-red fingertips, on a plain light background.
Yellow Bird in a Purple Hand Resin Sculpture - 40cm $1,68700
Description

A yellow bird rising out of a purple hand, its beak drawn up to a fine point and its body held between the fingers, which reach up around it with their tips touched in pink-red. The yellow of the bird and the deep purple of the hand meet where the fingers close, and the turned foot of the hand is part of the casting, with no stone supplied under it.

Two Colours Far Apart

Yellow and purple sit about as far apart as two colours can, and here each belongs to a different thing: the bird is yellow, the hand that holds it is purple, and the fingers that reach up its body carry the purple into the yellow without blending it. Where they meet, a little red catches at the fingertips. The beak is drawn up to the only sharp point on the piece, and the whole is polished so that both colours read as depth inside the resin rather than as paint on it.

A shelf, a desk or a bedside table, met close to. Mid-tone. A white ground makes the yellow disappear and a dark one buries the purple. Light from behind is best; it shows the bird and the hand together, each in its own colour. The silhouette carries a little way and the colour not at all until you are within a pace.

Changing the Colours, and Delivery

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. Either colour can be exchanged for another, the red at the fingertips strengthened or left out, and a stone base can be supplied. Bring the hand to a colour nearer the bird's and the two read as one form; keep them far apart, as here, and the bird stands out from the hand that holds it. One crate. It needs no assembly. One person. Take it by the body, not by the drawn point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A beak drawn up out of a yellow body leads to our organic sculptures; the purple and yellow casting belongs with our resin sculptures, and it rewards a close look, as do our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
