Description

A winged lion sits frontally with two large feathered wings raised behind it, mane full and jaws open, forepaws set forward on a stepped base with a rocky mass worked between the forelegs. The head is wholly leonine rather than an eagle\u2019s.

Feathered Wings Raised on a Lion

Wings on a lion create a cantilever that a lion alone never has. Each one rises from the shoulder and reaches above the head with nothing beneath it, so the feathers are cut thicker at the root than the eye expects and thin only in the last third, and the two are roughed together so they match before either is finished. The rocky mass between the forelegs is not decoration either: it fills the space under the chest and stops the front of the figure standing on two thin legs alone.

A frontal figure faces the approach and loses nothing from being seen square on, which makes it the right choice for the end of a path, a niche, the centre of a wall or the head of steps where a profile figure would read as turned away. The raised wings need clearance above and to both sides, so a low arch or a tight niche will crop them.

A Frontal Figure That Faces the Approach

Thirteen weeks. The stepped base is cut and the body roughed seated on it, with both wings left as solid slabs until the head between them is finished. The feathers are then cut on both wings alternately rather than one wing at a time, so the pair stay matched. The marble is a white with grey veining that runs up through the stepped base and into the feather tips nearest it. The jaws are opened last. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops. Around 1,601kg in one piece, craned and bedded onto a prepared concrete pad.

Winged and mythical beasts are in animal sculptures, with the rest under classic sculptures.

Production Time

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
