A translucent white form gathers into a cup and lifts two pointed lobes out of the rim, the outside grooved with fine lines that run up its sides and swirl into an eddy low on the front, as though the water were still running. The two lobes are of different lengths and lean apart rather than together: one climbs high on its own, the other curls outward at the opposite side. Between them the front of the rim dips almost to the body, while the back rises in a jagged row of points. No part of it is clear; the whole form is a soft, frosted white.
Anything that passes light is measured by its wall. This one is thin enough that a hand behind it shows as a shadow, and that is exactly why the thickness has to be held to one value the whole way round: where the wall is heavier the piece goes grey, where it is lighter it goes almost to white, and the two are read side by side by anyone standing in front of it. There is no finish that corrects it, because the fault is in the body rather than on the surface. The grooved lines help, since they break the light up and give the eye something else to follow as they climb and swirl, but they cannot rescue a wall that varies.
It passes light rather than reflecting it, so it repays a position where something can sit behind or beneath it. Against a dark ground it reads as a solid white shape and half of what it does is lost; with a lamp behind it, or standing on a pale surface with daylight coming across, the whole body glows and the grooved lines come forward. At 30cm it suits a shelf, a desk or a window ledge, and it can go where the light is rather than where the space is.
Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The wall passes light and has to hold one thickness all round, because the moment it varies the light shows the difference. The white runs to a cream or a pale green, the lobes are drawn longer, and the whole form is made again at twice these dimensions. The depth of the cup is set at order, and a version with three lobes instead of two is made. It ships in one padded box with the lobes faced separately, and it comes out in a single lift; nothing is fitted and nothing is screwed down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A cup that passes light rather than returning it is organic sculpture; the translucent white is resin sculpture; and a wall this thin is indoor sculpture only.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
