White Torn Rim Cupped Form Resin Sculpture, 125cm, white textured wing-like cup on a tall black plinth, plain white background.
White Torn Rim Cupped Form Resin Sculpture - 125cm $2,55600
Description

A cupped form whose two sides rise away from a central keel like a pair of wings, the rim between them torn into a slow wave that runs down both flanks. The white is matt and streaked with fine grey lines that rise from the keel and fan out towards the rim. A tall black marble plinth is included and is what puts the cup at chest height; it arrives as a separate piece.

A Cup Carried Just Below the Eye

Putting a cupped form on a column of this height changes what it has to be. Carried at chest level, a little below the eye, the cup is seen mostly from outside, with only a narrow view in over the lowest part of the rim, so a rim torn at the lip alone would barely register. The tear is therefore carried well down both flanks rather than kept at the top, so the profile is broken where it is seen against the room. The fine grey lines in the white do the same work on the outer wall, climbing from the keel and spreading as they go, so the eye is drawn up the outside of the cup to the tear.

Floor work, and one side of it has to be walked up to. The plinth is square at the foot and will not sit true on a rug or across a threshold. At this height the cup is read against the wall behind rather than against the floor, so an unpapered wall serves it best. At 125cm the cup sits at chest height, a little below the eye, so the keel and the streaked outer wall face the room and only the dip in the rim gives a view inside.

The Plinth, the Rim, and Delivery

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The rim is torn more deeply or hardly at all, a warm tint is run into the white, and the plinth is cut in other stones. The plinth is cut to the room, and the form standing on it is cast at other spans. The plinth can be cut down for a room with a low ceiling, bringing the cup nearer waist height, and the proportions still work there. A white stone plinth is made where the black is too heavy for the room. Cup and plinth travel in two crates, the plinth carried upright by two people and the cup held under its keel rather than by the torn rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Raised to chest height on black marble, a streaked white cup with a torn rim joins our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
