White Frosted Level-Armed Torso on a Black Marble Block - 43cm
White Frosted Level-Armed Torso on a Black Marble Block - 43cm $2,36200
Description

The arms are thrown out level from the shoulders of this resin torso and the body below the ribs is drawn in to a narrow stem, so what reads is a chest, two arms and the stem that carries them. It is frosted rather than polished, which gives the coarse planes a milky surface, and it stands on a polished block of black marble. The block comes with it.

Arms Thrown Level, the Body Ending at the Ribs

Where the cut falls is the whole decision on a fragment. Ended at the waist it reads as a figure missing its legs; ended under the ribs, as here, it reads as a fragment that was always a fragment, and the cut is therefore made across the ribs rather than square across the body so the line follows the anatomy instead of ignoring it. The level arms are a cantilever and are left fuller at the shoulder, worked back toward the ends. The frosted surface is in the material; the block is bedded to the cut face so nothing bridges.

This piece takes its dimension in width rather than height and is flat front to back, so it suits a position with width and a plain ground behind it: a console against a wall, a long shelf, the end of a sideboard. It is frontal - the level arms only read as level from directly in front - so set it square to the room rather than at an angle. The frosting means it holds up against a pale wall, which the clear pieces do not.

Where the Cut Falls, Block Choice and Delivery

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Where the cut falls can be set at order, from this line under the ribs to a full torso ending at the hips. The arms can be run longer, brought in, or broken at one shoulder. The block comes in this black marble, a white marble, a granite or a dark timber, and its depth is yours to choose. Frosting can be taken to a full white or dropped for a polished clear body. Scale is cut to order. The torso and the block are crated apart from one another; either is a one-person carry and nothing needs a tool. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A torso throwing its arms out level belongs with our classic sculptures; a body drawn in to a stem below the ribs leads to our abstract sculptures, and milky frosted resin joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
