This cast resin sculpture is a full guardian lion, with its mane, collar, paws and plinth all present at a small scale. It sits square and front facing on a plinth cut from the same material as the animal. The body is frosted and colourless and gold leaf is caught through it in flakes, so the piece is pale from a distance and glinting when it is picked up.
Scale is the whole difficulty. A guardian lion has a mane of tight curls, a collar with bosses on it and a set of clawed paws, and at this size all three have to be cut with tools meant for jewellery rather than sculpture; the abrasive that flats a face on the plinth would take the collar off entirely. The curls are the test. They have to stay separate from each other or the mane turns into a rough shell, so each is worked individually and the frost applied afterwards, which is the reverse of the order used on the large pieces. Gold leaf at this scale is also different: on a big body the flakes read as a scatter, and here two or three of them are enough to carry a whole flank, so their placement is judged rather than distributed.
A piece this size is held as much as it is looked at, which makes it a desk, a bookshelf or a mantelpiece object rather than anything architectural. It rewards close light. Under a lamp the leaf lights up one flake at a time as you move, and in flat daylight it reads as a plain pale animal, so a spot with a directional light near it is worth more than a prominent position. It also works as the small member of a group, set in front of the full-height lions in the family where the difference in scale does the composition.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Leaf density runs from a few flakes to a heavy scatter through the whole body, and silver or copper are made in place of the gold. The animal is offered polished rather than frosted, and a tint of amber or grey can be carried through it. This lion faces forward, and a second can be cut in mirror image so the two make a traditional facing pair. It is sold as one animal, so order two where a pair is wanted. Other scales are cut to order. It arrives boxed and sleeved with nothing to assemble and can be carried in one hand. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A small guardian lion seated on its own plinth belongs with our lion statues; mane, collar and paws cut at a jeweller's scale lead to our figurative sculptures, and frosted resin flecked with gold joins our resin sculptures.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
