White Combed Blade Crescent Resin Sculpture - 95cm, a curved white resin form with a combed, glassy-edged blade tip, shown on a plain light background.
White Combed Blade Crescent Resin Sculpture - 95cm $3,39800
Description

A crescent of resin with a broad blade at one end and a slim arm at the other, coming round most of the way to a ring and standing on the bottom of its curve, the two ends stopping a short way apart. The blade is cut off on a slant at its tip, clear and glassy there, and combed in fine strokes that run along its length with the curve, crowding closer as they come down until the lower arc and the slim arm turn a soft, milky white. Nothing is supplied under it.

An Arc That Encloses as Much as It Is

Combing one half of an arc and leaving the other smooth gives a form with no colour of its own a top and a bottom without changing its outline. The strokes are cut down the broad blade from its slanted tip, running with the curve rather than across it, and they crowd closer the further they travel until they merge into a milky white. The lower arc carries none, which is what lets it read as the part doing the standing, and the slim arm is left smooth with it. So the piece moves from clear to white along its own length, and the combing marks the way from one to the other.

At 95cm it is met at about waist height standing in a hall, or a little higher on a low plinth, and the space it encloses is as much of the piece as the material is, so it wants something worth seeing inside the arc. Light from one side rakes the combing and is what the strokes are cut for. It rests on the bottom of its curve and needs a level surface. Standing on its curve, the crescent encloses a space almost as large as itself, and what fills that space is whatever the piece is put in front of.

Heights, the Combing and Delivery

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The combing is run over the lower arc as well, a tint is put through the body, and the two ends are drawn closer together. The arc is drawn out or brought in, and its opening keeps the same share of the height. A tint put through the body is offered where a clear and white piece is too quiet for the setting, though it then carries some of the work the combing is cut to do. It ships in one crate bedded inside the arc rather than against the blade, and it is raised upright from beneath the bottom of its curve, never by the blade's tip or the slim arm. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Combed from a clear, slanted tip into a milky white curve, this crescent belongs with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
